Cairo-Mubasher: Qalaa Holdings will be a participant and sponsor in Egypt’s economic summit this week, the company said Tuesday.

The Egypt Economic Development Conference (EEDC), under the theme of “Egypt the Future,” will take place from 13-15 March in the Red Sea resort of Sharm El Sheikh.

The conference will be a strong starting point for Egypt’s political and economic reforms, said Ahmed Heikal, Qalaa’s founder and chairman.

Heikal expressed optimism regarding the country’s outlook, especially amid effective steps taken by the government, which will help restore stability in the political and economic arenas.

Heikal will take part in a session on the second day of the summit, under the title “Egypt: Energy Equation,” and will talk about means to resolve the country’s energy crisis.

Egypt’s leadership has an exceptional opportunity to revive the country’s energy security system, in addition to introducing new fields and industries that will create thousands of jobs, Heikal stated.

The summit aims to lure $20 billion in investments and restore investor confidence in the economy, which has been battered by nearly four years of unrest following the January 2011 revolt.
